Fast bowler sreesanth, and his retired parents will henceforth spend their days at their new Mather Villa near Kochi, surrounded with Kerala's famous backwaters.
The new villa has been presented by a builder of lifestyle homes, while selecting sreesanth as brand ambassador.
A room upstairs has been assigned for Sree's medals, certificates and a cricket bat presented to him by Sachin Tendulkar after the latter had made one of his 37 Test Centuries.
Toys with which he played with have found space in the drawing room.
sreesanth's mother Savitri Devi, and father Shanthakumaran Nair, have also set a special place on the ground floor for photos and idols of all major deities, which their son prays.
The most important part of the prayer room is an oil lamp, which remains lit at all times. sreesanth's father says sreesanth always calls to remind them about the lamp.
"It's because of his devoted belief in god," says Nair.
His parents say that since his childhood, sreesanth has been studious and fond of extra curricular activities like cricket, dancing and singing.
"He is crazy about music. He prefers to listen devotional songs and other melodies," Savitri said. Remembering his school days, Savitri said that he was very naughty boy in school.
He used to jump into the music room from window to play drums, which resulted in the headmistress calling his parents.
A strong believer in astrology, sreesanth recently wanted to change his name to 'Sreesunth', but his mother advised him against it.
"It is god's name. So, let the name remain unchanged," she is said to have told him.
Asking about their son's future plans, they both said they were not going to get him married till he is 28. Savitri says she is, however, on the lookout for a girl who loves music and is god fearing.
Savitri, a retired officer from the state treasury department and Shanthakumaran, a retired officer from the Life India Insurance Corporation of India, feel proud and happy over their son's achievements.
"I feel proud to be the father of sreesanth. Since his childhood, he was very determined, and his ultimate goal in life was to play for India, for which he has worked hard. Because of god's grace, he could reach there."
